American Express Platinum Card

The American Express Platinum Card is for those on higher incomes than most of their other cards. However, it is still within reach for most people, requiring an annual income of £20,000.

This is a good all round card with some great extra benefits such as £150,000 Travel Accident Benefit when you use your card to pay for your trip.

You will also notice that there is a reasonably good balance transfer offer on this card. The interest rate is reduced to 4.9% p.a. for the life of all balance transferred within 6 months of getting the card.

This card also has a great cash back offer with the potential to earn much more cash back than with most cards offered in the UK. The percentage you receive will increase as your annual spend on the card goes up. You can reach the maximum 2% money back when you spend over £7,500.

Credit Sources Review

This is a good all round card with the prestige of the American Express Platinum name.

Whilst the card may not offer the best interest rate on purchases and balance transfers it does come with a lot of extras for those who like to pay off their balance in full each month.

The cash back offered is much higher than the 0.5% that most UK cards currently offer. Do be aware, though, that the percentage you receive is on a scale and you don't reach the maximum 2% until you are spending more than £7,500 a year.
