AOL Credit Card

If you currently are, or are thinking about using AOL as your internet service provider, you may want to look at the AOL credit card as a way of saving you money on your monthly subscription fees.

How You Can Save

Every £1 you spend on this card will earn you one point. You can also earn double points if you use this card to pay your monthly subscription fees with AOL.

You will also receive a bonus 2,700 points the first time you use your card. This is enough points for a month's subscriptions to AOL.

Using your points is just as easy. Points add up to free monthly subscriptions with AOL and the amount of points needed will depend on the level of service you have opted for. For example, one month at the silver broadband level will take 2,700 points. One month at the gold broadband level will cost 4,000 points.

You can also take advantage of special discount on AOL subscriptions for card members.

Other Card Features

The AOL card is currently offering a discounted interest rate on balance transfers. The rate of 0% p.a. is available for the first 9 months of card membership. After this time the rate will revert to the standard interest rate on any outstanding balances.

The standard interest rate is currently a Typical 15.9% APR variable for both balance transfers and purchases. Cash advances and withdrawals will incur a slightly higher rate - currently 22.9% p.a.

There is no annual fee for the use of this card and, if you pay your statement balance in full and on time, you can enjoy up to 56 days interest free credit.

Credit Sources Review

This could be a good card if you're currently an AOL subscriber or if you are thinking of becoming one in the near future. If you don't use AOL as you're internet service provider, you won't be able to benefit from the rewards programme.

When you compare the number of points needed for free months subscriptions to the value of the free subscriptions, you are getting over 0.6% back on what you spend. This is doubled when using the card with AOL themselves. This is a little better than many cash back offers but you are, of course, very limited to what you can spend your points on.
