Breast cancer affects around 1 in 9 women in the UK at some point in their lifetime and the disease kills around 1000 women every month.

Breakthrough Breast Cancer is a charity set up to help fund both research into breast cancer and education on the disease.

The charity has now joined forces with MBNA to provide the Breakthrough Breast Cancer credit card. The card has already raised over £700,000 for the charity.

Donations

MBNA donates £5 to the charity for every new card holder. There will also be an additional £2 donation each year you continue to use the card.

In addition to these lump sum donations there will be additional amounts given for every purchase you make on the card. 0.25% of the value of your purchases is donated to the charity. That means that for every £100 you spend on the card 25p is given to help with breast cancer research and awareness.

Other Card Features

This card also has benefits for the card holder as well as the charity. First off, there are currently introductory interest rates on both balance transfers and purchases. 0% APR on balance transfers lasts for 12 months and 0% APR on purchases is being offered for the first 3 months of card membership. You should be aware, though, that a 2% handling fee does still apply to any balance transfers.

The standard interest rate is a Typical 15.9% APR variable on both purchases and balance transfers.
