British Airways Premium Plus Credit CardIf you want to earn your British Airways miles as quickly as possible, you might be interested in the British Airways Premium Plus credit card. To start you off you will receive a bonus of 6,000 miles with your first card purchase. You can then earn 1.5 miles for every £1 spent on your card. British Airways are also currently offering double miles, that 3 for every £1 spent, for the first 3 months of card membership. With flights starting at just 12,000 miles for UK and some European destinations, that means that you can be on a free flight by spending as little as £2000 in the first 3 months. Free Companion TicketBritish Airways are also offering a free companion ticket when you use your miles to book a flight. You can earn this ticket by making annual purchases of just £10,000 on your card. This can be a great saving if you use your miles for a long haul flight or a flight in business or first class. This compares with needing an annual spend of £20,000 for a free companion ticket with the standard British Airways credit card. Of course, these extra benefits do come at a price. There is an annual fee on this card of £120. The interest rate on this card is a Typical 35.4% APR variable including the annual fee. This works out to a rate of 26% APR on purchases. If you are looking for a cheaper way to earn British Airways Executive Club miles, you may want to look at their standard credit card.
Summary Table
Credit Sources ReviewThis is quite an expensive card to have. The annual fee is one of the highest around and the interest rate is also pretty high. However, if you plan on using the card a lot, the extra miles you earn could well outweigh the additional annual fee. Be careful, though, if you think you might end up carrying a balance from month to month. The high interest rate can easily offset any advantage you get from the extra mileage accrual. If you manage to pay your balance in full each month, though, the interest rate may well not affect your decision so much. The free companion flight offer can also be a strong incentive. With the wide choice of flights available from British Airways, you could really get a bargain here. If you've managed to save up enough miles for one long haul ticket, but want another for your partner, this offer could easily save you lots of money. Of course, even with the reduced amount you need to spend on the Premium Plus card, it still requires and average monthly spend of £834 over the course of0 a year to get the companion ticket.
