Making an Office Space Feel Like Home Makes Us All Feel Better About the Work

I came up with a business idea. Well, actually I came up with an idea for an app that we could build on to develop a sustainable business. I could write the code for the app, but all of the rest of the stuff was new for me. I needed people to spread out all the work involved, and we needed an office where we could be together to work together as a team. Comparatively, I knew as little about office interior solutions as I did a lot about programming. However, I was able to put together a very nice interior space in a loft I rented for our office.

The building is old on the outside, but we have it nice on the inside. I made the office open and comfortable like a home. However, there are little nooks and crannies where each worker can go to focus on work alone. Personal spaces they can fashion into whatever they want. When we collaborate together, it is in and area that is like a comfortable living room at home. It feels like home here. The kitchen area is open and we cook and eat together. The only area that is commercial is the loo. They are what you would expect to find in an office building.

The large bank of windows brings in so much natural light. I am motivated by the light. I have a touch of seasonal affective disorder, so I have special lamps in my work area that simulate sunshine in the winter months. I approached developing the office space the same way as I did the algorithm that is earning each of us a paycheck. Now we have a stable business in a nice office that should keep us working together for years to come as the project naturally expands.
